There have been reports of Champcar talking to Molson about a possible round in Calgary.

Calgary has the 2nd most coperate HQ's (behind Toronto) so there's plenty of $$$ floating on the oil patch.

Calgary is a bitch to get around in on a good day. Downtown would suck.
Race City does have a 2 mile paved circuit. Don't know what kind of shape it's in any more.

"The CSB has submitted a proposal to the Molson Indy to host a Champ Car race in Calgary, Hilary Dolhaine, communications manager with the CSB, confirmed yesterday. "

"A significant amount of government funding -- both municipal and provincial -- likely would be needed to stage such an event anywhere in Calgary"

Isn't nice to be wanted? That cities are seeking out the series and are willing to pay?

How much is the Finger Lake Region paying TG to run the Glen? Or is TG paying ISC to run the race? Maybe or maybe not and CCWS may have more then a few track rentals in their future.

But in an era where government participation is a necessary component of every major sports entertainment business, I am happy that CCWS is much closer to a product that governments find attractive.

Here is a map of the track at RaceCity. The track was in sad shape when I visited there years ago. Very narrow and short run off area at the end of the back straight.

The track is in the south east corner of the city. A fair drive from the city center.

Champcar should go and race where the track owners and race promoters act like they want a Champcar race. On the flip side, that means Champcar sould not race at venues where the owners/promoters act like they really don't want a Champcar race. If that means a majority of races outside the US, then so be it.
