- I'll Also mention that on the ticker below in the video, Kevin stated that ChampCar is off life support and does not need to merge with the IRL.

- Although not in the sportsnet clip, he also talked about Penske, stating his feelings that Roger did have an 'angle' to getting the talks started.

If I can vidcap The Score report, it offers some other info taken from Kevin...

"It now costs around $11 million US to run a two-car team for the 16-race season, said Kalkhoven.

Griffin said the average two-car IRL team spends about $8 million, thanks to limits on car testing and engine and tire supplies. "

Less to run IRL? Really?

Probably $8 Million to show up & finish Last

Who Knows what the Free Engines for theHonda & Toyota favored Teams cost ... I doubt that figure includes that

Plus Penske / Ganassi / rahal (small r) probably spend twice that at least
even with the free engines

Top Driver Salaries ? (of course AJ just doesn't pay his drivers considering they always have to sue him )

you gotta buy these codecs, right?

nope.

try this link. All you need to download is the 5.x codecs (fancy term for the software file that can read the video)

Beware, it installs GATOR on your system.

EDIT: Nevermind, the Divx player installs Gator, not the Divx codec.

It only costs 8mill to run in the IRL because Toyota and Honda chip in the rest. Although, how much money do they need to run around in circles? 8 mill sounds like way too much.

Yep, and you don't need the divx player.... once you install the codecs, Windows Media Player or pretty much any video player you have should work just fine.

There seems to be some disagreement on the IRL budget figures. According to a previous story 8 mill isn't going to get your two car team through the season.

“One thing we must do in racing is reduce the cost because right now, people don't realize it, but the cost for some of these teams — some have a budget of $8 million to $10 million for each car. We don't think you need that kind of money to have a race car that goes 220 mph and is safe at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”

George said that current operating budges for IRL teams are about what they were in the CART series a decade ago. That would be the $8 million to $10 million that Lang mentioned.

And that is acceptable to George.
