Even the lure of 10,000 pre-paid ticket sales isn't likely to make next year's Toronto Indy an Indy Racing League event.

That's the number of tickets Champ Car co-owner Paul Gentilozzi vowed to buy if the rival IRL supplanted his series to stage the headline race of the 2005 Toronto racing season.

It's not likely that Gentilozzi will have to keep his promise.

"We're already negotiating with Champ Cars," said Bob Singleton, vice-president and general manager of Molstar Sports and Entertainment, a division of Molson Brewery, which has run all 19 races since the event first came to Toronto in 1986.
