"Gas companies are rip off artists."

If you think you can do it cheaper, you're free to refine your own. ;)

Or you could just siphon gas out of cars at unattended car dealerships, rental car establishments, parking lots, etc. late at night, if its really worth not paying. I'd imagine thats a little easier than refining oil.

http://www.twincitiesgasprices.com claims there are places around here that have gas for $1.50. It must just be my luck that everywhere I look it is hovering around $1.65.

Check out the prices at stations in your area at http://www.gasbuddy.com/

I paid $1.71 at Mobil Today for "93 octane" I'm in suburban Philly.
Guess the prices here are a bit more reasonable (comparitively speaking)!

They're reasonable everywhere.

I love these threads.

Thats OK - I'm Raising my Customer Prices soon to absorb the Gas Increases for all the Vehicles in the Business!

Sure Hope they think I'm being Reasonable! :)

If it goes to high and the customers react negatively - I will have to lay off one of my guys! Not exactly something I care to do.
But something might have to give down the road.

Well since it continually snows here or is colder than heck or I have been sick, I have not bought gas for or driven my car since before Christmas. (hubby is nice enough to drive me to work everyday and warm the car)I did look at prices today though and they are 1.47.

$1.71 in the burbs of Milwaukee... And our gas is "reformulated..." :saywhat: B.S.!!!

Ed_Severson

Do you think "reformulated" means that it gets used over again, and therefore should be cheaper?

I'm not trying to be smart ... I'm really curious as to how you arrive at the conclusion that the claim of reformulation is, as you put it, "BS" based on the price.

For those of you interested (can you tell this is one of my favorite things to yap about?) ...

Reformulated gasoline differs from standard gasoline in both composition and price. Basically, standard gasoline is blended with certain oxygen-rich additives, most commonly methyl t-butyl ether (MTBE). The result is a fuel which burns more efficiently, producing around 5-20% less benzene, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and light hydrocarbons. This reformulated fuel generally runs about 5 cents more per gallon than standard fuel, and gives you slight reduction in fuel mileage (around 0.5 to 1 mpg), but it leaves less residue in your engine than conventional gasoline.

California adopted a law effective in, I believe, 1996 that required all gasoline sold within the state to be reformulated fuel. Many other states have followed through with similar programs requiring either partial or wholesale use of reformulated gasoline.

So, if the pump says it's reformulated, I'm sure it is. ;)

That will be all for today. :)

$1.71 for diesel in Wadsworth, Il.

48mpg, though. :D

you lucky folks, 56 cents a liter here, roughly over 2 US bucks a pop

but heck... we're an oil producing country, so I guess that makes it OK :shakehead

Kiwifan

We are charging $NZ1.19 per litre for 91 Octane and $1.24 for Premium 96. You could pick up the fuel approx 4 cents per litre cheaper in the cities. (Multiply by 4 litres to get a US gallon and divide by 2 for the Kiwi dollar. ;)

Rusty.

Chop, remember those old diesel rabbits in the early 80's? My previous employer had one of those as the staff car. Gas mileage was great but I used to get dirty looks from the people behind me at stoplights who were being smoked out.

Up to $1.75/gallon here in MN.

Prices for the regular stuff in the Portland, OR area range from $1.49 in the downscale areas close in to $1.79 in the West side suburbs. I guess having to haul it that extra 5 miles most explain the $.30/gallon difference... ;)

Both my sleds run on 92 octane, so there's no good news for me, so I'm used to silly prices.

We now have regular over 2.00! This is getting ridiculous.
