PC Racing Wheel Thread....

So this thread was originally supposed to be about me telling Rabbit that I'm getting the practice in for Dirt Track Racing Sprint Cars ;)

Or perhaps about how I finally got Toca Race Driver and how I love it.... (a few current and former Champcar tracks to try (Vancouver, Mexico, Brands).

But I have to talk about a new racing wheel, cause my old one took a dump...

So, who's got what and what do you all recommend?

In my early searches, I'm keen on the Enzo Ferrari Thrustmaster Force Feedback Wheel.

I've always liked thrustmaster products, and I naturally lean towards them again.

The one i'd really like to try is Thomas SuperWheel products, but at a thousand dollars (yes, 1000.00 usd) its a little too expensive....

I've got an old Microsoft Sidewinder (non force feedback) sitting under my desk collecting dust because the only racing games I've played are on Xbox Live. I liked it, way better than the old Thrustmaster wheels that always fell apart.

Used to have a (like SeanO) Sidewinder, back in the day...

Wouldn't know where to begin as far as PC Games are concerned, simply because I'm a console boy...

i have a "logitech momo racing", for about 100 dollars it is a pretty good wheel, the pedals aren't great, but they're ok. i stuck a squash ball behind the brake pedal to give it a little more feel.

We run two Logitech Force Feedback GT wheels with usb. The only reason we got them was that they are PC and PS2 compatible.

I echo redmists comments, the wheels are great but the pedals are average. Maybe I mash the brakes too hard 'cause I'm always having to pull the unit back toward me. :)

Great tuning trick. Do you think using different density balls (like raquetball, squash, etc.) on differnent tracks layouts would give you the tuning edge...?

Momo Force (the red one) here.. Many, many, many F1, Champcar, ETCC, DTM, etc miles under it's belt and it's still a champ..

Found it for $79 new in box off of eBay..

I think we could get into different compounds for raquetballs too.

"I totally blew it and went with a soft compound ball for Road America. What was I thinking? It's summer here in Tuscon and the soft compound totally overheated in my upstairs bedroom! The ball got so soft, I had no brake feel.

I just feel bad for the guys, they setup this IBM© PC all night long, and Mom is going to be pissed when they aren't hungry from being up all night eating Cheetos© and Mothers© fudge-striped cookies".
