What time does the sun rise over there, and what time is that here?

There's just nothing that beats watching sunrise at Le Mans.

The sun comes up around 4-4:30 am local time which is during the 11-12 pm hour ours. Speed will be broadcasting during that time.

Been there, done that, and it usually ends with me being accused of being an ISC shill. :gomer:

Is the race THAT important to the American motorsports scene that there should be no ALMS races between Sebring (March) and Mid-Ohio (2 weeks from now)?

Uh, no. No way! Uh, wait a sec, I mean yes! Definitely yes. ;) I never understood the hoopla over a race filled with Pontiacs. :gomer:

The amount of world class driving talent on the grid makes me go

Great to see some of our Champ Car boys among them, too.

I'm pulling for the Morgan in GT. Ya gotta love something that bizarre.

That Vette/Ferrari duel is going to be something fierce.

I love this race.

I would think that VW would be very angry about that since the V10 TDI is one of their showpiece engines. VW sure had enough cash to fund the effort. Is SPEED taking email questions this year?

they just mentioned that the VW is getting a lot of techno help from "Cat".

they just mentioned that the VW is getting a lot of techno help from "Cat". Ya and I see why VW is'nt involved. It's a true grassroots special. Somebody bought a Toureg, took the engine out and stuffed it into the race chassis. Seems the clutch and driveline of the racecar is having trouble adapting to the torque which is 550 lb/ft stock

2 of the top 3 Audi's taken out by an oil slick on the track, and one of the prodrive ferraris takes a lazy spin too.....

McNish coming back to the pits was hilarious... sideways, front wheels pointing opposite directions, looked pretty brutal.

No footage of the wrecks - sounds like big ones, though.

This puts Justin Wilson in the Dome Judd into 3rd place in the 900 class.......

Steve

Edit: who then proceeded to have a gearbox problem and 45 minutes in the garage later........

devilmaster

Word has it that McNish's off from that oil slick, was bad. He got the car out of the wall, drove the crabbing car back to the pits, he stopped it in pit lane, jumped out and ran to the back of the garage, where he then collapsed.

Taken to hospital, word has it that he suffered a concussion, and will not return to the race.

Bad deal for McNish at many levels.

What's with that British pit reporter who sounds like Froggy from the Little Rascals? Yeesh.

Johnny O'Connell had some choice words about the gravel and its proximity to the circuit. I liked the apologies by the announcers for the profanity. Don't worry guys, we understand.

Am I the only one who wonders why they can't adjust the apertures on cameras a little better? A big blob of white light doesn't make for good TV.

At the time of this writing, Sully is 3rd in class and heading for a podium. The Vette's still have some parts of the track where they haven't crashed into something and there's still a ways to go.

Go Morgan!

What happened to the 64 vette? Why is the 66 Ferrari 3 laps ahead of them now?

The lead Audi punted it and sent it spinning into the tire wall.

This out of synch radio feed is pretty annoying.

Yes, it is. And since I've tuned back in for the last hour and a quarter or so, I think I've heard ALL these guys say "uh" a thousand times or more. "Uh, uh, here we are in, uh, pit lane and, uh...." Now THAT is annoying to me.

Between the prolonged shots of the Ferrari guys fixing the breaks on their car, crewmen sleeping, and the rear ends of photographers during pit stops of unidentified cars while the radio crew blabbers on and on without really saying anything....I don't have the slightest freakin' idea what is going on in this race at the moment.

Bourdais... what a brain fade...

Spun the P4 Dallara in a really stupid move with the P1 Audi in tow. Almost drove him to the gravel, too.

Thank God the Speed guys are back now...

Sebastian Bourdais is an idiot.

Martin Short is (the driver, not the other guy) is probably going to the hospital because of Bourdais' stupid move.

Sebastian....it's a 24 hour race, dumbass!

Bourdais gets my vote for dumbest move, and then dumbest excuse of the race... :shakehead

Rob
06-13-04, 09:31 AM
It was indeed really stupid of Bourdais to do that. I went to bed right after Short's big crash. Did they happen to interview Sebastien again after the the big one, just to get his reaction?

Methanolandbrats

Geez, what a bunch of early birds. I just came to in time for the low-light review.

Sean O'Gorman
06-13-04, 10:32 AM
They interviewed Martin Short sometime around 4 AM or so and he didn't seem nearly as upset as you'd imagine, but said he expected more out of Bourdais. Such a shame that his car had to be destroyed.

Always on the right team, but in racing that's part of the deal.

This turned out to be quite a race. Hard to imagine having better coverage that SPEED is giving it. I watched part of it live, then let the Replay do the rest.

Looked like Bourdais had brain fade. Basically said he punted Short off because he wouldn't move over..? Considering the number of good overtaking zones, this is hard to swallow.

Kristensen has good racers luck and the skills to match. Well deserved IMO.

Kristensen is the man! He should have been in F1 after that great F3000 year with no budget, but no money for F1 meant no ride. If I had a Champcar team in 97 and didn't need to be a rent-a-ride team I would have hired that dude in a heart beat.
