So, a few years back, me and a couple friends started an annual road trip, going to see ballparks, checking out the local sites, trying out the local food spots... etc.etc.etc.

3 years ago, it was chicago.
2 years ago, baltimore and washington.
Last year, Indy and St. Louis.

This year, its Cincy and Pittsburgh.

So anyways, the main plans are set (baseball, hotel), everything else is pretty much up in the air. That's how we usually do it, keep alot of free time to explore. For example, breakfast in Baltimore, found this small hole in the wall diner that served a killer plate of breky for about 3 dollars.... to top it off, I got to try scrapple for the first time. Or last year, checked out Players-Forsythe headquarters (got some great pics) and Cam talked us into going to check out practice at Indy. Got to heckle FTG. :D

Anyone know of good tourist sites? must hit restaurants?

Anyone maybe wanna meet up and go karting over the weekend? 2 of the 3 guys i'm going with are also involved in the business idea being worked on... So checking out these places is a must. There is a place outside of Cincy, Speeds in Cbus (which we'll hit on our way through), and I haven't found any in pittsburgh, but there is one about 40 miles out (probably too far).

Anyways, Victoria Day Weekend for Canadians is 1 week prior to Memorial Day weekend.

Hope to hear some good ideas....
Steve

Long ago life was clean
Sex was bad and obscene
And the rich were so mean
Stately homes for the lords
Croquet lawns, village greens
Victoria was my queen
Victoria, victoria, victoria, ’toria

I was born, lucky me
In a land that I love
Though I am poor, I am free
When I grow I shall fight
For this land I shall die
Let her sun never set
Victoria, victoria, victoria, ’toria
Victoria, victoria, victoria, toria

Land of hope and gloria
Land of my victoria
Land of hope and gloria
Land of my victoria
Victoria, ’toria
Victoria, victoria, victoria, ’toria

Canada to india
Australia to cornwall
Singapore to hong kong
From the west to the east
From the rich to the poor
Victoria loved them all
Victoria, victoria, victoria, ’toria
Victoria, victoria, victoria

Sorry, I know that's no help to you, but I've got that song stuck in my head now. :)

This track is 45 minutes NW of Cincy on Ohio/Indiana border. Not a bad little track for being in the middle of nowhere. Nearly killed my bosses wife on this one a couple years ago on a Yamadog 100cc kart when she had the audacity to spin out in front of me.

Here's one that's a bit further out of the way (toward Indy right off of I-70), but easy to get to. Not been on it yet but it's brand new and looks to be super fast. Got a real long straight for a sprint track:

Food in Cincy:

1) Grand Finale: This is where me and the wife go several times a year. Best filet I've had anywhere (even Houston/Dallas/Chicago  ) and killer deserts. Entrees are $20+

2) Montgomery Inn Boathouse: Nice view the river, ribs are their specialty. $20+

Hope it helps.

Whew.

I'm ready for bed..... but what an excellent weekend.

1 out of 2 ballgames isn't bad (pittsburgh rained out), saw Andy Warhol Museum, and a few other sites, got to kart once, and got to spend sunday in Cincy with one of the other offcamberites. So anways, here's some of the photos:

- My buddy Shawn at the Warhol museum

- Yours truly, in the 'Silver Clouds' piece at the Warhol Museum

- Me again at Warhol, standing in the middle of four screens showing the same movie with sound, albeit at 4 different times. Cool piece.

- Me, taken by Shawn as a pseudo Casablanca picture, I guess. At a neat Irish bar after we found out the Pirates game was rained out.

- After the Cincy game on Sunday, PCHall took us to a great bar called the HofBrauHaus. So here is the group over a few litres of beer: (L to R) Pete (pchall), Mike, Me and Rick.

What a great weekend, but now i'm to sleep.......

Hmmmm... I'll be rollin' thru Cincy next month as we begin our week-long family camping trip. I'm thinkin' lunch at the HofBrauHaus will be on the itinerary.

Looks like a good time was had, Steve, despite gettin' drunk under the table by Pete...

Note to all: The Hofbrauhaus is at Newport on the Levee on the south bank of the Ohio River. It's the real deal, run by the folks who brew HB in Munich. Most of the menu is honesty German and the portions are enormous and the prices reasonable. There is only one other Hofbrauhaus outside of Munich and that one is in Hong Kong.

ps: Steve bought two one liter mugs to take home (and just in case he couldn't last through the cab ride back to downtown Cincy. ;)

I've been meaning to say Pete, perhaps we should have stayed with Shawn and Rick instead of cabbing back to the hotel. Look what they found after we split up.

Man...if Steve, my husband, and a good friend of ours were standing side by side, it'd be like three long-lost brothers... :D It's almost like big guys with reddish facial hair are multipying, to take over the world or something... :p
