I don't know, I'm no aesthete. Though it sure fits right in with low-class vulgarian's paradise that I imagine Hooterville to be:

Indy Choppers Builds Indy 500 Commemorative Custom Bikes (http://www.indy500.com/news/story.php?story_id=2574)

Reads like something out of RevLimited, I know, but it's definitely f'real. Some stupid had posted the link over at CrackForum.

Dig the dirtbag vibe! :gomer:

I went to the website of Indy Choppers and found the print ad they will use for their Indy 500 bike. Interesting choice of words

As a motorcycle enthusiast (gag) this is just more cashing in on the chopper fad that has every wanna be harley type biker in the country buying kit bikes with huge rear tires and a flame job on the tank.

My brother-in-law paints VW's at a VW restoration shop which is steady, but limited (obviously). I keep telling them to grab a video camera and act goofy and send it to Spike. Or even buy crate motors, have a frame specialist company build your frames, hire a professional painter to squirt it and put your name on your very own 'custom made motorcycle' exactly like the guys on TV do. All the cool guys are doing it now!

As for this 'thing'. I would have rather seen the clowns from Orange County do an Indy theme bike. Imagine, big giant wing on the front, bing wing on the back. It would look like something Evil Knievel would jump over some canyon on! Now that would be funny, I mean cool. Yeah cool.

I vote for stupid crap! The whole chopper craze is IMHO a bunch of poser tards. First of all, the idea of a chopper is form over function. Second, they look bloody ridiculous. Third, there are a finite number of "approved" themes which are pretty much recycled and regurgitated for the fans of these things who then fawn over their minute differences as being groundbreaking. Okay, so I am opinionated!

“We’re very proud to be part of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and its tradition,” said Duke Sturges, vice president, marketing promotions and operations for Indy Choppers. “We can’t put into words what it’s going to do for our company. The amount of exposure, knowledge and experience given through this opportunity of working with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is irreplaceable and one that is valued greatly by our entire Indy Chopper team.”

 Yea, right. Which part of Indy tradition? The part with the guys cheering on the mud wrasslin mama's in the snake pit? I suppose there'll be a big IMS logo on the fuel tank with "show us your tits" directly under that. Now that's an Indy tradition that directly ties in with plenty of exposure!

Hey, I just hit on a great idea. Xtreeme Chopper Racing League - XCRL. Have WWF rejects race choppers on super speedways. Make sure that there are lots of staged fights in the pits and after crashes. Require each team to have silicone enhanced cheerleading squads in Hooters style outfits, and of course, a cage of death with a gator pit to settle disputes.

Hey, it's all about the show, right? Why not give 'em a real show?

My take on Chopper-mania . . .

A buncha guys my age who saw too many Peter Fonda movies when they were pups, living out their childhood fantasies.

Personally, I'd rather have an ersatz GTO.

If I read that correctly, they claim better than 200mph?

Maybe if Evel decided on another Snake River Canyon jump without the parachute.

They also claim 180hp. No way that thing gets near 200mph. There are well developed sport bikes with similar horsepower and far better aerodynamics that won't hit 200.

You beat me to the punch.

Also, I doubt 180 HP. To get 147 cid, it has to be a super long stroke motor. To get 180 HP, it would have to rev to 6500 or 7000 RPM. That is not too likely, and if it would, I don't think the air cooled cylinders could shed that much heat. There is also the problem that the antique 2 valve pushrod heads wouldn't flow enough air, no matter how fast you run the motor. A straight 4 superbike motor has the same bore area from 4 smaller pistons and a super high tech 4 or 5 valve head and they barely make 170 HP in the latest models.

FWIW: I might pay $10 for a PPV, to see some 50 something in faux biker garb try to go 200 mph on a kit chopper.
