They're going with a more sharp edged look which the Viper took on last year (which is an industry trend currently).

I like the car's specs, but a modern Vette with exposed headlights just doesn't seem right to me. It DOES look like they copied some Viper traits, which they didn't need to do.

what Richard Burns had to say on the vette subject was enough for me :)

I REALLY didn't like the look of the C5, it just seemed to lack imagination in the design area (especially the rear). This version is so much more sculpted, even the exposed headlights seem to add to the flow of the design. I may never buy one, but it's a good looking car.

I'd never seen it in the pose shown above, but you're right... when did Chrysler take over the Vette design studio?

Not striking at all, but not ugly either. I give it

Sorry. Can't get past the high huge rear.

I think it's because I'm in love with this:

 To me the new design braks away from the classic look. It does not look like a corvette anymore, it just looks like any other cookie cutter sports car.

It does look like SpeedBuggy. Only not as charming or whimsical.

Nice of them to livery it in Viper Red. Of course, my Gremlin could stand some paint, so maybe I'm just jealous. :D

Who cares what it looks like... it goes like hell down the road. One of the few "big 3" cars that I wouldn't mind having in the stable.

[edit]btw, it doesn't look half bad either. Its no Ford GT... but what is? ;)

I like it more than that Pontiac Grand Prix on 'roids: The GTO... but that ain't sayin' much.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the above pic was the Dodge Intrepid.

I haven't ridden in one of the newer ones, but yeah, I've read they're excellent performers now. Still looks like an Intrepid though... ;)

This pic is a good example of the queues that Chevy took from the Viper,IMO. I'd take the Viper in a heart beat over the Vette.

The Viper has shed it's cartoon overtones and is quite the looker these days. And just once, I'd love to do a hole shot and melt those huge Michelin's of the rims. Yeah, baby! :D

Yep, and that's the market. The Z06 is a lot of performance for the money, and that's what the average performance buyer is looking for. At $50K it's a few bucks less than an M3 and it outperforms one.

The last Corvette I really liked for styling was the 1967 model (and cooincidentally the same era as the GT40), so it's fair to say that I don't look to the Vette for styling innovation. I also don't like the large physical size. The cockpit is small, the weight is reasonable, there is no trunk, so why does it have to be so big? It's a classic situation of form not following function.
