View Full Version : V8s to Auckland?

Here's a wee piece talking about the possibility of hosting the V8s in Downtown Auckland. Interesting to note that Champ Cars get a mention with regards to Surfers. Now what if, what if they could do Surfers and then Auckland? I appreciate this article says April but if they could only move the race back to last years date it would help to spread the costs and if they were to race with the V8s I reckon it would open up a huge market for our sport.

One can only hope. I guess the link is for racefans only but if you love motorsport (worldwide) it's worth a read.

Aha... musta missed this thread Rusty... :)

Do you guys get RPM (N10) ?

Anywho... I missed it last Sunday (ANZAC Day), but the week before there was a story about how Auckland (facing much opposition as your article states) is keen AS to host the V8's instead of Pukekohe... I don't recall everything that was said, & apparently it was all rumours, but the parting words (to quote Bill Woods) were "Could this be the last round we see @ Pukekohe? Or will we see two NZ rounds !"

We shall see... ;)

PS: I thought that article was very well written re: Aus/NZ motorsport

Looks like Puke is gone soon. :( Sounds like most folk want a street race in their town and the reason I got excited was I was trying to tie in Surfers and the old Puke race in November. Too bad it's now in May. :o
I figured if the V8s were coming over from Surfers late October why not bring the Champ Cars as well and share the costings of coming Downunder.

It was just a thought and me wishing the boys could cross the Tasman. :)

Rusty.

Hey Robstar, no sign of the video yet but will let you know as soon as it arrives! It's a long way from Australia! :p

You may be right and I'm hoping you are but they still need Transit and the Council to give them Resource Consent. Bloody red tape. ;)

Will keep you posted mate.
