Just watching one of the most boring races I've ever seen, and the Japanese fans have noticed too as they are staying away in droves for the IRL's second race at Motegi. Entire sections on the front stretch are essentially empty. I dunno, maybe a Japanese aluminum company bought all of the tickets so everyone can see their product.

Hey, there's Quattro yutzing around 20 mph off the pace. That boy's done got some talent.

But, but...

The field took the green flag under clear skies and a temperature of 78 degrees -- and with a large and enthusiastic crowd cheering it on.

We havent seen an on track lead change since Homestead. All the lead changes have occured either on the first lap, or on pit stops. So much for side by side racing.

Well... ya can't have it both ways. I TiVo'd it but turned it on with two laps to go so that's about it. Looks like Honda a the Japanese fans were happy. Dan's a good ol sprint car driver, glad he won. ;)

I'm actually finally going through with my Seventh Gear vow of a few months ago. After wasting my time watching the Homestead bore fest, I've skipped Phoenix and Motegi. It's so painless too....I could not care less. Like I said in the rant, I will still watch the Indy 500 as I enjoy that one still. But another thing, after a wonderful day out watching those beautiful champ cars and hearing and smelling them today, why would anybody ever want to stop driving those and also kill something so beautiful. IT'S JUST SICK SICK SICK AND DEMENTED!

I completely forgot the thing was being run last night. I'm amazed you even got to see the front stretch stands, ABC/ESPN have gotten so good at on-the-fly editing you normally never get much more than a long angle shot and never anything straight on.

The lemmings are already whining at TF. One guy claims it looks like Fernandez is just driving around to pick up a check! Uber earl rube mac miller ain't happy with the on-track product. Boo Hoo dork! I'm sooo glad they've got Pimpski, Floyd, wankerdretti, Toyota, Honda, Rahole and the rest.
Bring on LB!!

I had it on in the background, but wasn't paying attention. Its just more of a relief to see it over and know no one was injured. Honestly I wouldn't have even known it was on though if it weren't for this thread.

That series is in sad, sad shape.

The TF Meltdowns are a spectator sport in and of themselves, and provide fare more entertainment than the Earl's on track product. Now Hooter is scolding everyone who doesn't like what they see. This is going to be a fun few days

I don't know why anyone would watch.

One of the few things keeping the earl alive is CART fans who tune in.

One more good reason not to tune in. As if we needed more...

The IRL now has everything that was wrong with CART without the greatness that redeemed it all.

Exactly right Sean. If I didn't see it posted here or happen across it on Speed News, which I occasionally watch, I wouldn't even be aware it existed.

SAM, JR. HAS TOUGH DAY AT MOTEGI

Finishes 19th

Sam Hornish Jr., who won the IRL opener at Homestead-Miami Speedway, finished 19th Sunday after crashing out of the Indy Japan 300 at Twin Ring Motegi.

Hornish was running among the top 10 when Kosuke Matsuura’s car went off line and bounced Hornish’s Marlboro Team Penske No. 6 Toyota-powered Dallara into the wall on the 88th lap.

Scott Dixon’s car slowed in front of Hornish's and Matsuura's as all three went into the first turn.

"As we went into One, too many cars were going for the same spot," Hornish said. "The car in front of me got on the brakes. The car next to me ran into my left-front tire, putting me in the wall."

Hey Dave,
I miss your rebuttals over there, I always check out what there saying but it would be a lot better if you got back in the game, Defender I mean Hooter is running wild with propaganda as usual.

how about it!

I don't read TF, but I jumped over to see what Dave was talking about. Funny stuff. I was somewhat surprised to see very little mention of CART and even zero mention of the current Champ Car. Why? Because they they don't have a scapegoat anymore. Tony lead them down the wrong road.

They got what they wanted, but don't like what they got.

Who put Hornish in the wall?

He was put into the wall by that good 'ol red blooded american dirt track champion oval specialist. Goes by the name of Kosuke Matsuura.

While perusing the earl website for the above info (I didn't contribute to the abysmal tv ratings), I saw that Back Home Again in Indiana was sung by someone named Kuroi Hitomi. Is that the Japanese gomer or something?
