View Full Version : It Still Strikes me Funny...

As I surf from forum to forum reading the usual suspects repeat their mantra's from .com to .com, it still strike me funny that those very same head in the sand IRL fans are still 'in the thick of it' in terms of trying to convince us die hard Champ Car fans that their series of racing is the way of the future.

Now I see the lemming handbook is instructing the Brickyard evangelists to preach that the only hope for open wheel racing is the sacrifice of CART. What they fail to mention and yet what they all understand is that with OWRS picking up the torch, it further puts the IRL deeper into the ground.

OWRS will be a new series with all parties sharing the same philosophies, unlike our beloved CART and the money grubbing, Indy-centric owners who I need not name. It is the IRL that is the failed series in the eyes of the TV audience, sponsors and any fan who follows any genre of motor sport.

For a few weeks here in Jan '04, top tier, open wheel formula championship racing is no more and it has never been more evident that it is the IRL who has failed. The IRL is dependant on OWRS not continuing so they can use that as their promotional propaganda of "we lasted because we are the best. We're gong road racing. we are the future." When in actuality, OWRS will prevail with a business model that CART should have adopted ten years ago with people who share the same goals. The IRL is scared stiff that the Phoenix will rise and rise it shall.

The IRL is dead. Long live Champ Car!
