View Full Version : Since It's Almost Time For Santa, What Are Some Favorite Diecasts?

Ones that you have or ones that you want?
I finally got all of the Le Mans winning Jags this year in 1/43. I have most of the Senna diecasts I want. But I think the 1/18 Miller-Harley Team Rahal Champ car I just snagged on Ebay has to be my current favorite - that baby is sharp!!!
On my Santa wishlist is Mario Andretti's World Championship winning Lotus... but I don't think I've been that good this year. :(
So what's everyone else in to?

I wished for (and bought it myself), a 1:18 McLaren MP4-15 autographed by Mika.
It's my first diecast.

I got this for myself back in the fall from EWA, it is exactly like my car except mine has t-tops. Other than that I don't really have any diecasts anymore. Theres a bunch of older (91-94 seems to be the range) NASCAR and some IndyCar stuff in our attic, I'd imagine it might be worth something someday, or I could just try and sell it now.
One of the cooler things I have is a plastic (approximately 1/18 scale) Ralt RT-40. Found it when I was a kid when we were on vacation in Cape Cod, its a replica of Empringham's old Motomaster car. It is a bit beat up, the stickers were cheap so many of them are peeling, and his head popped off, so I had to superglue it back on. One of these days I'll take pictures of it, its really unique.

That one is cool - the Lammers/Dumfries/Wallace winner. I got it and the '90 XJR12 as a pair earlier this year. The tough one to get is the XJR5. I think Replicarz has it, but they can't keep it in stock.
That's a good price, if it doesn't skyrocket in the last 30 seconds (you WiFi, highspeed, broadband b@stages know who you are :flame: :D ).
Good luck... I think you'll like that one. And I've bought from that seller before - he's cool.
Okay - can y'all be my secret Santas, please??? I'd love me some diecasts in my stocking!! Got hubby a 1:24 1999 Ford Focus WRC for his birthday last summer, but I don't think he's got the hint that I want the same stuff! I was coveting a lovely 1:18 F1 Villeneuve the other day, but didn't get to look too closely - kids were pulling me to the doll section.

The pride and joy of my die-cast collection is my Greg Moore Foundation 1:18 scale die-cast. It is a replica of his Player's #99 car, but instead of the Player's logos, it has the GMF logos. It was produced by Action Performance as a prototype. Right after Greg died and I was still working for CART Licensed Products, his dad and some other folks wanted to do a promotional program to promote the foundation. They were going to do a book, pins, stickers, shirts, and a die-cast. Unfortunately the program was scrapped, but not before Action sent me the only prototype made for QA. It is the only one of these in existance. Needless to say, they closed our office and I lost my job with CART, but I kept the car.

It's my first diecast.
So after a long delay and the seller being a PITA, I get my 1:18 diecast in the mail. It's a 1:43. Naturally, the guy doesn't want to give me a refund, and I can't even leave negative feedback on eBay because his account is now deactivated.

D'oh! Boy... that wouldn't piss me off at all... :flame:
And cart7... as for the Bentley, check out Ebay's selection... Bentleys on Ebay (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?query=bentley+1%3A18&catref=C3&socolumnlayout=3&from=R10&sacategory=222&BasicSearch=)
I was gonna get one, but with three diecast purchases in the last 2 months to fill up my bar/display case, the wife is threatening to give me less lovin' if I buy anymore... which basically means she'd skip our single Spring copulation so I'd hafta wait til the summer one comes around...
Thanks God for porn.

My favorite is my Superman Jimmy Vasser car (even though it has road course wings & the car was raced at the Michigan 500).
My goal is to get Mario's Lotus 80, which is handmade by a guy who never has them in stock. I always liked that car, even though it wasn't very successful.

They're a little steep, but occasionally you can find a decent deal on Ebay.

I built one of these:

And one of these:

After seeing how those turned out, I turned my attention to diecasts. :D
Right now I am building one of these:

Problem is that they don't make a kit with the GOlden Hawks. So I had to buy a USAF one and order custom decals.

Cool. A grade school friend's father worked with those guys in some sort of technical capacity before the family moved south. From Winnepeg, eh.
[edit] Wait a minute. I'm thinking of the Snowbirds. Who are the Golden Hawks?

Hellz yeah! And amazingly, that pic just happened to capture the entire Air Force!

Chop-
The Golden Hawks were Canada's first air demonstration team. They started out with Harvards.
Cam-
Why yes Canada does have an air force, Mr poopie-pants. We have a few dozen rusted old CF18 Hornets and a couple of rusty Hercules. Not to be outdone by the flyboys, the Navy has a bunch of rusty old Sea King choppers that drop out of the sky faster than flys in Warlocks! backyard.

Yep, I buy 'em, now. But I put my time in building them too....I used to build all kinds, but then I started my own business, then I increased the seriousness of my racing, so time got pretty limited.
I got pretty good at it, then noticed that manufacturers like Exoto and Minichamps made some breakthroughs in their painting processes and the quality skyrocketed. As good, or better than I could do. That was the last straw, so I started buying.
In the pictures above, on the two Porsches, the Jaegermeister logos are painted on. They're not decals! I could never in a million years, have done that.....
