“Ohio State/Michigan Week” has grown beyond the football game to include the annual blood battle

After last weekend my blood will be of no use to anyone!

Nothing like Michigan/Ohio State, in the big house, with everything on the line. It doesn't get much better, does it?

seriously, Camp Randall has to be one of the coolest f'ing names for a stadium ever. I keep thinking an army batallion's going to be waiting on the field for the visiting team.

My dad, as well as the rest of his side of the family, is a die-hard U of M fan. One time, it must have been in the early '80's because I had moved on by then, a couple of my little brother's friends stopped by during the game. One of them cheered when OSU did something good, or something like that. My dad kicked them all out of the house.

OSU needs to lose so that a real football team like USC can go get their asses handed to them by OU at the Sugar Bowl.

Go Wolverines!

Such hostility towards us Wolverines!

The OffCamber Michigan Fans and OffCamber Ohio State fans should stand together. Lets focus on what we have in common, not those that drive us apart.

As a show of good faith, I'll start the list of things we have in common:

1. We were all accepted at Ohio State.

2. Real fan of niether (Go Hoosiers! Did I say that?), but a Big Time Big 10 fan. Hoping for a great game and another Big 10 national champion. (Which doesn't mean that I will be cheering for OSU, but if they win, I hope they whip Oklahoma like they did Miami last season.)

I like Michigan.

I always liked their helmets.

But I also like coaches that can take a good swing at players. (1978 flashback).

Always a big fan of the big man.

Seems to me I remember hearing the site was used during the Civil War as a camp for Wisconsin troops waiting to head south.

It's true. Except now it's filled with drunk 20 and 50 year olds. UW does have the worst fans so it'll probably get annoying on Saturday.

Good news for Buckeye fans! Even if you get thrown in jail, the judges are supporting the Buckeyes by ensuring that you won't miss a minute of the game!

Several years ago, Playboy magazine did a piece (no pun intended) about the top ten college football venues to attend. The criteria were the fan enthusiasm, tailgating, atmosphere, etc. I don't remember the results, but at the end of the article was something like (I paraphrase) "you may be wondering why Wisconsin is not on this list. It's because they are so far and away over the top that this list is actually a best of the rest thing."

Gotta give OSU street cred for being able to recruit not one, but two Ray Lewis caliber players. (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1666827)

A campus police report said four female students were assaulted about 4 a.m. Sunday, and a window of one woman's car was broken. The women had minor injuries, the report said.

Walter Madison, an Akron attorney who said he represents two of the third-year female students, said one sustained a broken wrist and another was choked until she lost consciousness.

"The athletic director has declared the investigation over and dubbed their (the players') behavior as if they were acting in some heroic capacity," Madison said. "Well, the injuries don't suggest that."

Tressel said the players had tried to break up a fight.

"The part that I can address is that we had some guys out much later than they should be and that we'll need to take care of things in-house to handle that," Tressel said. And just to think even how much dumber Clarett had to be to actually get suspended for something at OSU. :D

flobee1kenobi
11-21-03, 12:42 PM
#1 the players have been charged with disorderly conduct while trying to break up a fight

#2 the only violations that have been committed that we've heard of is the team curfew

this lawer sounds like he's looking for his 15 minutes and looking to drum up business

I see the guilty parties being benched until the 2nd quarter and nothing more than that.
players being up and about at 4 in the morning during Mich.week is unacceptable and they will be punished.

11-21-03, 02:31 PM
This type of thing doesn't happen in Michigan, what with the players being so well paid by the boosters. :p

Ankf00
11-21-03, 08:59 PM
If making someone swallow their own trachea is only worth 1 game, then I'm amazed that Tressel would bench someone for a fight for a whole two quarters.

1 of our DB's last summer was pissed someone parked in a spot close to the dorm so he kicked his car and dented it, the dude calls the police and another DB slaps the fone right out of his hand... and then there's our 5 marijuana arrests the past 2 years :shakehead: oh ya, and then Benson breaking into someone's house for a TV that was stolen a bloody year ago ( brain switch == off position)

OOOOO, now we BETTER get picked for Rose Bowl instead of being shoved aside to the Orange or Fiesta :saywhat:

will be the best bowl beside USC/OU

UT's never played UM before, and UT visits OSU in '05

JoeBob
11-22-03, 10:22 PM
Don't hold your breath, Ank. Michigan draws enough fans that the Rose Bowl can go with an at large Pac Ten team - like oh... Washington State.

That is unless the scenario I prefer plays out - LSU's strength of schedule puts them ahead of USC. That would give us a Michigan/USC Rose Bowl, which would be awesome (and probably the best bowl game to watch). (LSU/Oklahoma would be a "don't bother watching" championship game - and I always love a good kick to the BCS chops.)

Ankf00
11-23-03, 12:23 AM
too bad wazzou lost :)

and michigan's the only team i'd want to play aside from OU (which would be a hopeless cause but always gotta fight), i defo dont want to whup LSU 2 years in a row, and miami or tennessee? pffff.

JoeBob
11-23-03, 12:24 AM
Did I say Washinton State? As Lee Corso would say, "Not so fast, my friend!"

If USC goes to the national championship game, don't be shocked if the Rose Bowl sticks it to the Orange Bowl (for taking USC and Iowa last year) by taking one of the Florida teams.

Maybe Texas will go. That'll be quite the battle of the bands at halftime!

11-23-03, 02:08 AM
The way Michigan has been playing lately, I'd like to see them play Oklahoma. Alas, with two losses it'll never happen.

A 16-team playoff will never happen, but what about this scenario?: Keep the BCS point structure and take the top four teams. Skip the HUGE gap between the regular season and Jan. 1 by playing the semifinals in mid-Dec. and having the winners play on New Years Day.

well, Fiesta bowl reps apparently called the AD a couple of nights ago, take care of aggy and we're eating tortilla chips, ah well, beggars can't be choosers. people are saying FSU or Ohio State, so either way I'll have some folks to talk pre-game mess with.
oh ya, and have to cheer OU to beat KSU *barf*
