I don't watch the crapwagons. I don't enjoy it, but I did see the crash footage.

There is no other sport that gives me the adrenaline rush and sensual thrill that racing does. Sometimes I feel guilty for loving it so much when it can be so devastatingly brutal.

I can kinda of relate to the drivers in this situation back to climbing (the one of the other real sports - along with racing and bull fighting)

As climbers we put our life at risk everytime we go out, and I myself have been very close to crossing the line or life and death(rusty will rememeber that) and also had a few people I close die through climbing. But I keep going back, I live for climbing like drivers live for racing, its something you just can't stop doing its your way of life

not sure if that made sense (being a friday afternoon) :D

Well written, John. I recall many of those same thoughts and emotions after Kenny Brack's crash. I recalled Greg's crash, Alex's crash as well as how devastating and beautiful this sport can be at the very same time. :) :(
