CART Overnight at 1.4

...higher than i thought it would be given the tape-delay in some markets. Ratings still have a long way to go, it's a small step in the right direction.

The final rating was a 1.3.

Some momentum anyway, refreshing! :-)

There was a bit of skepticism at the beginning of the year, CART wasn't familiar anymore. All those new teams and drivers, mostly people American audiences hadn't heard of.

It seems to have turned around.

Miami was a good race, too.

(Not to start a flame war, but the wheels sure have come off the IRL... they started the season stronger than CART, but now are lagging badly on network TV)

It's really just because of the football coverage leading or following the race. It's still good news because the exposure is valuable no matter how you get it. That's exactly why CART was willing to accept fewer markets and butchered coverage.

The football may explain last week, but what about the two CBS broadcasts before it?

Toronto - 1.2
Cleveland - 1.1

CART has been doing well late in this season.
