CSI: Miami to film Champ Car-themed episode during Miami weekend (http://www.cart.com/News/Article.asp?ID=7056)

INDIANAPOLIS (September 18, 2003) – The glitz and glamour surrounding the upcoming Grand Prix Americas Presented by Sportsbook.com will have an intriguing subplot as the teams and drivers of the CART Champ Car World Series battle for supremacy on the streets on Miami from September 26-28.

CBS’s hit crime drama CSI: Miami will film an upcoming episode of its highly-rated series in and around the 750hp Champ Cars, shooting a show that is scheduled to air in mid-November. The series, which stars David Caruso, Emily Procter, Rory Cochrane, Adam Rodriguez and Khandi Alexander, will be filming during the entire race week and will create an episode that centers around a murder that takes place at the race track.

The CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) detectives will work with current Champ Car teams and personnel to solve the crime, and will feature footage of the teams and drivers of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford both on and off the track. Several of the Champ Car teams will have featured roles in the episode, with those specific teams to be named next week.

CSI: Miami drew an average viewership of 16.57 million in 2002, was rated 13th among all prime-time television programs and was the highest-rated new drama of the 2002 television season.

After hearing about this, I sent CART the following email...

=============

If you have anything... anything whatsoever to do with the filming or script
of the upcoming CSI: Miami program featuring CART, I have a sincere request.
Please, I beg you, do not let Sylvester Stalone anywhere near the set.
Take whatever means necessary, including dropping him on a ship on its way
to Alaska and burying him in a hole the size of the Grand Canyon. Do not
allow him to be anywhere east of the Mississippi River during the weekend.
No, the entire week of the race.

Thank you, and I look forward to watching both the race and CSI: Miami in mid November.

Apparently, it got a good chuckle from whoever received it, and I was assured that Sly would not be on set.

A family fun whodunnit. How 'bout Tony George found beaten to a pulp at the Miami race... and we all get to do cameo appearances as obvious suspects?

Maybe C^RT could consider doing an episode of Law & Order SVU with the "great inheritor" in the episode. I'll let everyone fill in the punch line of the obvious joke themselves.

Exactly. The lab rats would find traces of an obscure Oregon wine and some cheese crumbs that turned out to be Keen's Farm cheddar available only from Neil's Yard in London. That, and the discovery of an airline ticket with my name on it stuff in TG's pocket leads the CSI team directly to me. After satisfying Emily Procter's animal cravings at some length with the assistance of various appliances powered by a deep draw marine battery, I reluctantly give myself up. The jury aquits me on the murder charge finding that it was justifiable homicide. The do however fine me $100 for littering.

I retire knowing that it was a job well done, but regretting that I didn't have time to kill a few pints of roofing tar with those of the CART fan persuasion. The end.

Now THAT'S a program I would watch. Just don't try to sell the script to Sly.
