...why all the drama with buyout groups? Even if CART accepts a buck a share, 21 mill is easy for most of these high rollers on an individual basis. What are the business benefits in the 'groups'?
I have a degree in Ancient Pacific Island Basket-weaving (just kidding), so I'm just trying to sort this all out.

Buying CART is cheap. Keeping CART running is not.

Exactly...they just want to spread out the losses. Share the risk. (and this one is BIG) See, they're PAYING to have all that fun! Then I guess they just deduct the losses and go to the islands in the off-season.

Yeah, that makes sense. I had this picture of a single owner and a real title sponsors that foots the bill. I do hope that they can land a really good title sponsor.

Man, I hope some grass roots, Team Memo-style consortium doesn't spring up on the forums.

How embarassing!

This just looks like a Show, It's Actually Last Weeks IRL Board Meeting

On the right is a Chubby Tony George freaking out while reading how many millions he spent so far propping up his "Hobby".

to his left is Mari George finally realizing how much he's spending

Bottom Left is Little Jackie Arute showing The Boss all the possible positions if he'd only say yes.

In the center is Fred Nation on his knees waiting his turn as usual

On the extreme left is Al Unser Jr. Burning off last nights party residue before the test

The rest are the poorer Team owners showing Tony via "Charades" how they can't juggle the budgets anymore!
