I got this from AR1 in the News Section

Evidently this Canadian has bought 6.2% of CART stock or 920,900 Shares

Is he nuts, or just hoping for a quick surge, then get out?

This is an SEC filing dated August 7 ....

Sounds like it. Eaton's used to be (until the 3rd generation screwed it up) the Canadian version of Macy's. One of Eaton's sons (probably the same guy) rented a Lotus or Brabham to race in the Canadian GP back in the 70's. IIRC he also financed Eppie Weitzes F1 drive at Mosport.

Name: George Eaton
Nationality: Canada
Date of birth: November 12, 1945 - Toronto
Blond, baby-faced heir to a Canadian department store fortune, Eaton produced promising results in Can-Am and Formula A, and was invited to race the works BRM for the final two Gran Prix of 1969. He stayed with BRM for the entire 1970 season, renting a third seat, but the arrangement left both parties dissapointed. Essentially a well-heeled amateur, Eaton also had some outings in the ill-starred BRM P54 Group 7 sports car and retired from the sport shortly after.

It explains the money, the love of racing. Eaton's went under and was bought by Sears Canada, iirc. Stores across Canada, including Eaton's Centre mall in downtown Toronto.

Does this guy have any connection to anyone currently associated with Cart?

Yeah, I think he is a Vanini ally. Isn't THAT interesting!?

AR1 is saying that Eaton & Vannini are buddies, which begs the question, What is Vannini up to.

Is he just rying to add to his leverage and get the buyout price high enough to satisfy himeslf?

Is he using the Capital from his friends, and the other's involved to actually put in a buyout bid himself?

I can't imagine he would try to block the Gentilosi bid just to keep the staus quo, and just remain a stockholder. The way things are his Investment would be worth pennies. Especially with the supposed assets of CART being pretty much depleted.

Could Vannini be a "Wild Card" buyer who has wanted this all along, and just has been able to keep his wishes private and Out of the Rumor mill.

Yup,starting to get interesting!!

Unrelated, but one of my fondest memories is watching Sam Posey and George Eaton standing in pit lane at Lime Rock following a F-5000 race shouting at each other about what a great race it was because they'd forgotten to take out their ear plugs.
