I have never seen this at a pro event I have been to, but last weekend a friend was at an event at Nelson Ledges and a club event had people there with this device which allowed you to get real time readings from each competitors transponder.

It's nice to see the transponders getting used the way they can be.

When they were forced on us for ~$300 each (I was a proponent of using them), we were told that we'd have instant practice/qual/race results with individual lap times. I'm still waiting for my instant info!

I'm sure things will improve, but right now our local indoor karting track has better utilization of transponders.

My experiance with my car has been everything from the posting of everyones time for every lap with in a few minutes of the end of every session, even practice to the posting of only everyone's best time but only after qualifying and then an hour or so later.

It's being discussed here as well.

I like the possibility that I can have the team relay real-time positions to me during a qualifying session. This in conjunction with the Stack predictive lap timer on the dash will probably result in me wadding up the car!

I love crewing for my friend at CART or ALMS support events, cuz I can sneak into a big team's hot pit stand and watch the monitor for our qual/race, then tell our driver what's going on. I get to feel like a big shot, maybe I should bring a giant cigar or a big sammich!
