After his son won the Bahrain Grand Prix, Jos Verstappen told the Daily Mail: "There is tension here while [Horner] remains in position. The team is in danger of being torn apart. It can't go on the way it is. It will explode. He is playing the victim, when he is the one causing the problems."

Jos Verstappen and Horner were seen having a heated argument the night before the Bahrain Grand Prix, although the Dutchman later came back to apologise.

After reading this, I give Max an ounce of understanding about his own completely boorish behavior.

So everything I've read, including rumours and innuendo.....

So with the death of Daddy Dieter (notevengoingtotryandspellhisname) there is a power struggle between Helmut marko and the Verstappens vs Horner and the british minority owners.

Horner and the owners apparently tried to power play for the team and buy it out, with Horner becoming part owner. To counter, someone knows of Horner's office sidegirl, and spills the beans. Some of the breaking news about his tryst comes from the netherlands. Obviously Jos may be leaking stories.

Its all private stuff and stories in the office till it goes public. Then everyone tries to keep such a low profile about it that your new engine partner (come 2026) has to make a public statement saying 'what the hell is going on?' The team investigates, says hey, its nothing. So the other side doubles down, and Jos comes out and says 'Horner needs to leave, its tearing the team apart!' and they announce that the Verstappens have an out clause, and that they've had dinner with Mercedes.

If Horner succeeds, Helmut resigns, and Max and daddy go to Mercedes.

If Helmut succeeds, I wouldn't be surprised if Jos becomes principal, and Max stays.

So if all of it is true, the real battle is not the one we're seeing, but the boardroom battle to own Dieter's F1 kingdom.... Kinda like we're seeing the Jerry springer show when the Suits show is going on in the back...
