I wouldn't be opposed to CART allowing the Reynards an update kit based on the Renske. That seems a lot better than some equivelancy formula based on weight or boost.

If we must give them a break (and I don't think allowing some aero updates is a bad thing) let the engineers make them faster, not the rulesmakers.

The problem in my eyes is the nascaration of the process. Allowing updates will bring on the great flugelhorn contraversy just as soon as Manning dusts them with an update kit. N/H, Forsythe and for sure Gentilozzi will be screeming for their own tweaks before Derrick can pocket the cash.

The question in my mind is the projected budgets for next year. If, when the smoke clears, CART has a stable platform for the future I say bring it on. The sponsor money influx created by a guaranteed future and a decent TV package opens up all kinds of possibilities. If not, wieght penalties are the cheapest and easiest to manage
