Wasn't sure where to post this one. Some other great old school videos on his page.

Very cool videos which sent me done a rabbit hole searching for video of the 1971 Trans Am race at the road course at Michigan International Speedway which I attended. The only thing I found close to it is this https://www.facebook.com/gotransam/videos/1971-trans-am-season/1538094692948863/

The race was held on Labor Day weekend at the same time as SCCA regionals. It was non-stop racing. We camped in the infield of the road course just as the track exited the oval. It was a wild weekend, huge infield party the night before the Trans Am race. The video only mentions Mark Donohue driving for Penske. What should have been mentioned was that the other driver on the team was Peter Revson. As a team they were very dominant. Also not mentioned was the privateer Pontiac Tempest ran by Pontiac engineers named the Gray Ghost (https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/articles/us-racing/the-legend-of-the-gray-ghost-us-muscle-car/)

Trans Am was a very cool series, even in its latter day existence, I enjoyed watching it race with CART at Road America.

I posted the Watkins Glen video at GRM, where it met with appreciation. I do wonder what would happen if you tried to promote a race for 1968-1972 Trans Am cars (with updated safety provisions) today--sort of like Goodwood without the Historic credentials. I have a feeling the spectator turnout would be surprising.
