For those of you who may have DVR'd or have Peacock Premium (and can therefore watch the replay stream) - if you want to see one of the best drives in a LONG time, it was this past Saturday at Long Beach.

Be Warned...Spoilers follow...

You were warned...:D

For those not familiar - Long Beach is basically a 'sprint' race for the WeatherTech Series. Race is timed - 1 hours and 40 minutes long. Basically it's a 1-stop race for the Prototypes with the driver change taking place on the pit stop.

Sebastian Bourdais qualified P1 and started the race for Ganassi. Took the green flag and was off. However, very early in the race Bourdais made a mistake overtaking a GT car in the Hairpin, and proceeded to nudge to a stop in the outside wall at the Hairpin Exit/beginning of Shoreline. Basically he ran out of steering angle due to overtaking the slower car in the Hairpin.

By the time he got it in reverse and going again, Bourdais was running last (among the Prototypes) around 20 seconds behind the leader. To make a long story short, by the time he was due for his pitstop, Bourdais had reeled in and passed everybody and built a ~5 second lead. Renger van der Zande took over for Bourdais on the pitstop, and they went on to win the race.

Bourdais had one of the most amazing ~40 minutes in the car that I've seen in a long time. He drove like a man possessed - it was great to see and nice that his hard work to overcome his mistake paid off. Worth the watch if you're so inclined.
