Interesting qualifying. With Lewis' 10-place grid penalty for a new PU, it means Bottas starts on pole. The huge question now becomes whether Bottas will be allowed to race for the win, or if Mercedes will force him to sacrifice his race in order to help Lewis. Bottas was just asked about it during post-qual TV interviews, and he was rather mum on the topic - so I think we already have our answer.

Should be an interesting one. See you all tomorrow!

Will BOT push VER wide going into T1 on the first lap?

Magic 8 Ball says “As I see it, yes.”

Though in their defense I will say this: You have to remember when you see a radar image with rain...that rain is in the air. And not all rain that's in the air ends up falling (though certainly most of the time it does.)

Will Lelerc and Hamilton go to the end?

Awesome job by Bottas. It's amazing what can happen when two things happen
1) There's no catastrophic team error that torches your race
2) You're allowed to run your own strategy rather than being your teammates' designated blocker

Nice run for Perez also, Happy for him.

And Lewis got a taste today of the strategy calls Mercedes usually reserve for Valterri.

Championship remains super tight. Should be a fun finish to the end.

Carlos Sainz is the Driver of the Day. Did I watch a different race than everybody else?

Even Carlos was shocked. They did the TV Interview over his in-car radio and when they told him that he had ben voted Driver of the Day the first word out of his mouth was, 'Really?'

Classic!

No the golden child dug the hole himself and then jumping headfirst into it when he didn't pit as the strategy called for around lap 40. He wanted to stay out, drove his intermediates down to the canvas and THEN he blames the team for a bad strategy...

He is a great driver but... I'll never be a fan of a selfish prick!

I’ve enjoyed this season. Today’s race was no exception.

This was brilliant

Well, there were two strategies: Stay out, or pit earlier. They decided to stay out and pit later - which was not a winning strategy!

I thought that was actually a really boring race!

I thought that was actually a really boring race!P1 and P2 were relatively unexciting. From P3 on back it was pretty god. I was impressed that there were no SC or SC periods despite the conditions. And of course I was pleased to see nothing placed in Bottas' way (and the corresponding result when he's given free rein).

But in terms of wheel-banging/elbows out/SC mixing up the order/complete unpredictability- then I take your point.

As to Lewis' attitude, I found this to be very interesting.

Do you guys get the post-race interviews? They had a longer than usual one with Toto Wolff this time. He was happy, smiling, jovial, explaining the different choices and what, in hind sight, would have been the better one. I can't remember ever seeing him so pleasant. Very strange.
Edit: Just saw the Hamilton post. Good for him. Everyone once in a while I have to like him.

Wonder if they told Lewis, 'You don't like our strategy? Fine. We'll let Valtteri run his own race for the rest of the season.'
Suddenly Hamilton has a change of heart...
