I’ve not watched it yet, I heard it was excellent

Norm Macdonald: Hitler's Dog, Gossip & Trickery (https://www.netflix.com/title/80134780)

I read it was something like a 9 year private battle with cancer. :(

When I think about how good SNL *used* to be, and all the enduring stars it created - Macdonald among them - it's quite a list. And such a contrast to what SNL is today (I think I read they just had their lowest rated episode ever, and it was this year's Season Premier).

Sad all the way around.
RIP

Norm was my absolute favorite.

Here's some of my favorite Norm Moments.

Less than 2 weeks after Steve Irwin dies, Norm went on the Daily Show, and did this interview. Poor Jon Stewart. He didn't want to laugh, but also couldn't stop laughing: https://www.cc.com/video/beopn8/the-daily-show-with-jon-stewart-norm-macdonald

If you've never seen The Moth Joke, strap in:

He had so many other moments with Conan, including saving this interview.

Allegedly, the reason he was fired from SNL was his jokes about O.J. Simpson, who was pals with some NBC Execs. The compilation of them is astounding:

The Moth Joke is one of the finest examples of a shaggy dog story I've ever heard executed. Loved it

This is why I loved Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee before they hid it away on Netflix, I love hearing comedians talk about the process of being funny.
