I'm no rocket surgeon but I'm going to go ahead and say that '60s style triple Armco is not a good choice of barriers for an F1 track.

Pretty remarkable that the halo was able to prevent that impact from getting really ugly. There was more than a little luck involved that he wasn't trapped by the combination of the halo and the guardrail.
