In case any local peeps can make it on a work day. I've been on that campus many times and didn't know there was a museum. TravelGuy never mentioned it. From Hemmings:

Very cool. Shouldn't they move that to their "headquarters" in Marysville, Ohio? :gomer:

Excuse me? Marysville is Honda American Motors. It's a manufacturing plant. Torrance is American Honda. THE headquarters of all North American Operations.

Edit: Marysville was the first but now there are 12 in the US (2 in Marysville).
Vehicles & Products: Marysville, OH, East Liberty, OH, Marysville, OH, Lincoln, AL, Greensburg, IN, Timmonsville, SC, Swepsonville, NC, Greensboro, NC
Parts & Components: Anna, OH, Russells Point, OH, Tallapoosa, GA, Burlington, NC

Interesting collection. Also interesting: what's notable by its absence.

Lots more pics from inside here: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/american-honda-museum-torrance?start=60

I was just being sarcastic. Thus "headquarters" in quotes. Reporting in 2013 was that Honda was moving their HQ: "Honda Moves HQ From Los Angeles To The Heartland Of U.S."

I always assumed that this was purely a tax dodge and that all of the executives and higher ups would continue to live and run operations from California. This the same thing as Amazon's whole HQ2 exercise. The biggest companies may do organizational window dressing for tax purposes but they're really based where the executives want to live.

Here's a later story (2016) talking about the reorganization which confirms this. New big boss Takuji Yamada comes in and says, "Marysville, Ohio? No thanks." "Yamada alternates between Torrance and the Ohio office. Other North American management leaders also alternate between two locations."

Funny enough, that article mentions that there's a "Honda Heritage Center" in Marysville that I've never even heard of.
