I love it. Kimi and Alfa knocked Ferrari off the top of the time sheets in testing. Yes, I know it's only testing, but it's still a good omen for the team and my favorite Finn.

So what did we learn this week?

- Mercedes doesn't quite have the handle yet / are sandbagging
- Ferrari is fast
- Alfa is fast
- Haas is unreliable but pretty quick
- Renault looks quite a bit better
- McLaren looks quite a bit better (and reliable, wow)
- Red Bull AND Toro Rosso look to be good, although big rumors of the Honda having a vibration problem
- Williams is awful and embarrassed
- Force India, for all the new cash, looked kind of ehhh

I know it's just testing. What else did you see?

I have no idea what name to use to refer to Force India now. See their website: https://www.forceindiaf1.com/team
They are not using the 2019 car at this point. Racing Point’s car is “effectively last year’s chassis” (https://www.racefans.net/2019/02/20/racing-points-car-is-effectively-last-years-chassis/) Upgrades are expected. A work in progress, I guess.

Interesting comparison

Although Vettel says the front wings are ugly, I am going to have to offer a rebuttal. What was ugly was the ten thousand uprights and turning vanes the last two years. These look clean and mean and I really like them. And lo and behold, some drivers are starting to mumble "yeah, we can follow closely better". Huh. Imagine that.

As far as those comparison pics, Steve, what strikes me is how weird that tall rear wing looks now that we have lower ones again. The tall ones kind of look like what you'd see bolted to a really terrible 1992 Civic Si.

Wasn't the taller/more narrow rear wings supposed to allow the cars to run closer, less of dirty air? Didn't work. And was ugly.

Realizing there are probably more fascinating differences, I'm struck by the airboxes on those two pics. They both seem like smaller intakes compared to previous years, and the Ferrari one being so low and far back is interesting.

I like Vettel, but absolutely CAN'T STAND Ferrari, so although excepting anyone getting hurt, they get the evil eye from me.

Why do you like Vettel? Genuinely interested. Don't know many people who willingly root for Seb (usually Ferrari fans who have to)

1. He's not Hamilton
2. He's got a great sense of humour (check out the Top Gear interview)
3. He's bloody quick
4. He can overtake like few others in F1

That's a whole lotta car in front of the driver. Remember the cars of the early 80's, I think the driver's feet were in front of the wheels. This is much safer, but it sure looks strange.

Liked him back in the Red Bull days; not any particular reason. But I'm a big Hamilton fan, too and I know most of the people here can't stand him.
