Macro camera recommendations

I have a need for a one-time use of a Macro lens digital camera. There's no local shop from which I can rent one. I do not want to purchase a camera for a one-time use if possible. I need to focus at a range of about eight inches. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Don’t have a clue but you might need more than just a camera. At 8 inches you most likely will cast a shadow on the subject. There are ring lights that you shoot through or others that attach to the front of your lens to provide uniform lighting on whatever you are photographing. A camera's built in flash is going to be overally harsh that close to the subject.

Have you tried your cell phone? There are lens kits available that will optimize for macro.

I have a Tracfone. No camera capability

Guess it depends on how macro you want to get but do you know anyone with an iPhone X that you borrow? If you need very close up there are clip on macro lenses you can buy for an iPhone that run around $70. Using that with hdr you can get quite good results. Also many of the point and shoot cameras have a macro mode, some far better than others.


or you could buy a Canon EF 180mm f3.5L w/ the ring light for about $2000 and be top of the line....

I know it's ad copy but I've seen folks at work do equal work and the lens kits are dirt cheap.
