To be honest, the last champ car race happened in 2006. 2007 doesn't count. the dp01 was anything but a champcar

The DP01 was spec Champ car. Obviously not the kind of car that the series was supposed to be about, but a necessary evil if it had led to survival. Still a better car than anything that has raced in the so-called Indy car series.

I get your point completely OOW but that race counted for those of us who were there. It was the end of the family. The dinner with Nelson Philippe nearly crying and saying that even though it was over, we would always carry ChampCar in our hearts was how we all felt. It was quite a night. And the race, well, I've said many times, hearing Helio say, live from Japan, that they asked him to let Danica by was priceless, even though only those us who were there heard it.

At the 4:03 mark, Oriol Servia talks about what a great car the DP01 was. Saw it race one time and have to agree. Was really fun to watch those cars race. Will power chips in after.

2007 Panoz DP01 Champ Car unveiled
(https://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/03/motorsports-2007-panoz-dp01-champ-car-unveiled/)

I don’t believe it’s potential was fully realized. As I recall it was to be fully spec for only the first few years. After that portions of it would be opened up for development.

I remember Moreno taking it out for a few laps at Road America to show it off. Good times.

It would be interesting to run down the ultimate disposition of all the DP-01 cars...

Last news was that Jerry Forsythe owned them all. But that had to be 8-9 years ago.

Forsythe owns all the Cosworth XFEs. Some of the teams actually paid for their DP-01s and kept them but I'm sure Forsythe was the actual owner of several.

KV restored and sold a couple DP-01 2-3 years ago. Video of Vasser and Bourdais doing shake downs was floating around, probably on Youtube.

A couple have popped up from time to time in the BOSS GP series in Europe. They've usually got some kind of Judd V8 in the back though

I've seen one, maybe two, at vintage events.

What about the last version of the Atlantic car? I think it was a Swift? Wonder what happened to them?

and don't worry folks: this actually exists. It's not a Mark Plourde fantasy

They also race with F2000 and F1600. The Atlantic grid has dropped severely over the years though.

Those Swift chassis were fun to watch race. Quick and nimble. Plus they had a decent top end speed.

I don't recall where I saw it, but a few weeks ago there was a picture of a DP-01 sitting on display, in full Indy 500 livery.

At that moment I could think of nothing more undignified.
