Back when I was a younger man, you opened your newspaper or got a local rag like Wheels and Deals to go buy a used car from someone local. Every place I turn now is just loaded with ripoff used car lots impersonating individual sellers, etc. Is there someplace online I just don't know about where I can go find a used car for my kid that wasn't pulled out of a swamp, detailed, and for sale for full retail on a shady car lot?

Autotrader.com carries both new and used listings from dealers and private sellers. I'd check there and then run anything you find through CarFax.

Carmax.com? The bane of all first tier auto retailers. They have local lots here but don't if they are everywhere.
