...and because I'm a sucker for anything old and funky. '57 Cardinal, just finished stripping the paint, time for one weekend camping trip before it all comes apart.

Probably the only camper I've ever seen that I liked.

Very cool. Is that aluminum? Any idea of the weight?

Sometime I'd like to rent one of the clamshell or teardrop campers to take out for a long weekend. The towing rating on the CX5 is 2000 pounds which is just adequate for the larger teardrop campers.

I saw one very similar to that today which had obviously been recently restored. Red/white. Very cool.

Yeah, it's aluminum, weighs about 1800lbs. From the factory it was a snazzy red & white two-tone like this, a bit flashy for my taste:

I haven't decided whether to polish it, paint some of it (probably white & aluminum rather than white & red), or just leave the cool patina.
Stripping the paint wasn't bad, even with the enviro-friendly stuff I needed to use while working indoors. Here's what it looked like a week ago, along with some shots of the interior- it's pretty much unmolested, other than a PO swapping out the icebox for a dorm fridge and installing a crazy propane hot water heater/automotive heater core setup, which is coming out. Much disassembly to follow.

IMHO, which doesn't matter a bit, the patina is what makes it so pretty.
