Petition calls for Bob Uecker to replace Joe Buck for World Series broadcast

An online petition is calling for Bob Uecker to replace Joe Buck as one of FOX's announcers for the World Series broadcast between the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs.

Uecker played an Indians announcer in the 1989 film "Major League" in which the Indians win the American League pennant. In real life, he serves as the longtime voice of the Milwaukee Brewers.

GO TRIBE!!!! The mood is great here with the Tribe taking game 1 while right next door the Cavs opened their season with the lifting of the championship banner into the rafters and a victory as well.

As for the below, the best thing about it is that when they come running out of the building at the end of their work day literally I use to work in that building (the Halle Building) and would use that door to exit it to get to my car at the end of the day.

Cleveland was drawing 13,000 to 14,000 to home games in September before their "fans" started falling all over themselves rushing the bandwagon. The had a larger season attendance in 2012 when they finished 68-94.
2016 attendance 1,591,667

I KNOW THAT! But Wikipedia also says: "In the mid-1960s, after attending Kent State University, Walsh played with several local Ohio-based bands before reaching a national audience as a member of the James Gang, whose hit song "Funk #49" highlighted Walsh's skill as both a guitarist and vocalist."

Do you think he would have been on the Drew Carey show but for the fact he was at KSU and played with a Cleveland area band, the James Gang?

No so much as a defense but more as an explanation, the 2 or 3 years before this year there was a lot of hype about how good the teams were then right out of the box they sucked in April. To the extent they had what you could call a decent season they made it up later in the year. I think there was a distinct feeling of here we go again this year, except they didn't sink themselves early in the year and by the time everyone thought they may be the real deal it was pretty late in the season.

I loved the James Gang when I was in high school. I always thought the Walsh was the James Gang during his tenure. That was certainly the period that the band enjoyed its' most success. I never knew the band was from Cleveland. With the Cleveland connection it certainly explains his appearance on Drews' show. I learn something every day.

I honestly think that if it weren't for the rain delay the outcome would have been entirely different. It killed the Indian's momentum and allowed the Cubs the opportunity to regroup and focus on what had to be done. There was a players only meeting lead by Jason Heyward during the delay.

Correction. The Royals made it to game 7 of the 2014 World Series before encountering other worldly Bumgarter and lost.
Forward to 2015 (the next calendar year). The Royals defeat the NY Muts and are crowned World Series champions. The year off in question to reload was 2016.

So, let's review. Since their last WS victory in 1948, Cleveland has appeared in 4 WS and have an 0-4 record. The Royals, on the other hand, have appeared in 4 WS since 1980 and are 2-2. I'm savoring those two World Championships. Cleveland goes home a loser again. Any questions? See you in 2017. :-)

3.0 out of 5 stars
Yeah, right! By Christopher Petersen on November 3, 2016
Format: Blu-ray
I just saw this last night, and I have to say it felt a little contrived for my tastes. I mean, you're telling me the championship of a major sport would come down to a winner-take-all game between the two teams with the longest championship droughts in the league? And wouldn't you know it, one team jumps out to a big lead in that final game only to have the other team tie it up on a home run off the free-agent pitcher who can throw faster than 100 mph! And as if that wasn't enough, they tack on a rain delay to manufacture even more tension. I won't spoil the ending for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but needless to say everything gets tied up in a cute little bow at the end, just as you would expect it to. Although the storyline felt kind of hacky at times, and overly schmaltzy to boot, what carries "World Series 2016" is the performances. "WS 2016" is filled with indelible characters who you can't help but root for. There's Francisco Lindor as the scrappy shortstop, Corey Kluber as the phenom pitcher trying to ride his fortune into one last big score, Anthony Rizzo as the big goofy puppy dog of a kid, John Lackey as the hot-tempered veteran, and Kyle Schwarber as the young prospect trying to come back from a devastating injury. And although I thought they were a little too cute at times, you might enjoy the lineup of cameos from John Cusack, Eddie Vedder, LeBron James, and, naturally, Bill Murray. All in all, "World Series 2016" continues the tradition of sequels throwing everything including the kitchen sink at the viewer and although the results are entertaining, it leaves you wondering what they'll try to do to top it next time.

Yeah that isn't possible of you do the math.
Say each person is 2.5 sqft (which is crush hazard, mosh pit density)
Dense real world crowds are usually calculated at 4.5 sqft/person (9680/acre)
The 2.5 sqft number is 17,400 people per acre.
5,000,000 people would be 287 acres at a near crushing density
Make your crowd 40' thick, an acre is a linear >1000 feet of crowd, 500' for both sides of the street
So 5 million people would be a solid, crushed together crowd 40' deep on both sides of the street for >27 miles.
Make it 80' on both sides of the street and you get >13 miles but the roads aren't nearly that wide.
The parade was 7 miles long.
Even with crowds at either end 5,000,000 people didn't happen.
