This got well and truly buried in the Prince coverage but Percy Sledge also died today.

I'm so glad you posted this. It was well and truly lost, for certain. He was so significant and such a talent. I mourn.

Wow, and I thought Chyna was going to be the "Farah Fawcett" of the day. This really got lost in the Prince coverage. :(

Huh. For whatever reason the original BBC story was posted up as a headline on the BBC web site. That's where I saw it, not on Twitter. Maybe it was supposed to be in the archive section of the page and it got misplaced into the day's news.

Oh my. Shows how befuddled I am. I thought it was current. :o

I think these stories get dredged up a lot these days because of news sites with crappy content engines or ham-fisted editors. I see old stories reposted with new datelines on a regular basis. In the time honored tradition of new media they usually fix the error with no acknowledgement that they screwed up.

In the recent deaths department, blues guitarist Lonnie Mack died on Thursday.

In other recent deaths, former Prince girlfriend and protege, Denise Williams (aka Vanity), died in February. Evidently her kidneys were damaged by severe drug abuse prior to a religious conversion and going sober in 1995 and she finally died from complications.
