Sad day. Guy turned down a knighthood, which for some reason impresses the heck out of me.

Should be referred to as Sir David Bowie, IMO. :)

I had to look it up.

When I was Editor in Chief for my HS newspaper, Let's Dance was one of the first albums I reviewed, so I researched Sir Bowie a lot.

Listening to SXM while driving, the DJ talks about the Bowie channel that will be playing his music nonstop through next Monday. Then he goes on to say there is a lot of speculation about the title of his latest release Blackstar. He mentioned that some people refer to cancer tumors as black stars. After a quick google search I found that is true. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/news/was-david-bowies-blackstar-named-after-a-cancer-lesion/ According to one source in this article, it was specifically liver cancer. The DJ then went on to discuss the parallels between Bowie and Elvis. Both shared the same birth day, both recorded for RCA for years...... Then he talked about a song Elvis released as a title song for the movie Flaming Star. The working title for the film was Black Star. As well as the song Elvis wrote, but then he changed the song's title and lyrics once the film's title was changed. The original song Black Star was never released, only the Flaming Star titled version was.

However, internet....

Well David got his first #1 US Album with Blackstar, bumping Adele out of the top spot after 7 weeks.
