It seems to me these guys have blinders on. THEY want to continue down the High-Tech path and incur all the costs associated with it and the fans want to go back to a more low-tech formula. At least, that's my impression. What percentage of F1 fans world-wide want "ultimate tech", do you think?

Not me. I want 3L open design engines with manual gearboxes, cars that look something like the mid-90s, monumental amounts of torque and cars that battle to go in a straight line.
