Ferrari extended Raikonnen's contract to drive next year with Vettel.

One more year of half-hearted quotes and angry radio transmissions. I'm happy.

Speculation on who they want/think they can get for 2017?

Seriously? People like you are why Kimi is as grouchy as he is...

Haha. It just feels like he was slower than Alonso and Vettel and just isn't getting the points they want. So a one year extension is more they couldn't find anyone better but don't think he's the long term solution. And Kimi was grouchy before. :)

Well if you look at Massa this year, he and Bottas are roughly equal. Both have one 3rd podium and otherwise they are pretty evenly split. So if Massa wasn't good enough for Ferrari but Bottas isn't markedly better than Massa this year, well why would Ferrari buyout Bottas' contract?

In my eyes, there is also a question regarding Bottas' long term fitness after it was reported that he will need to treat his back for the rest of his career. No doubt he will take care of himself, but that raises the probability of him missing an occasional grand prix above the normal range for any "regular" driver.

Makes sense. Does Ferrari have any type of driver development program?

One reason is Bottas is younger than Massa. 25 vs. 34

Yeah. Their guy was Bianchi. :(

They have Raffaele Marciello in GP2 and a Canadian kid named Lance Stroll. Marcelo is supposed to test drive for Sauber next year via the Ferrari program.

There's a couple other kids but I don't know who they are.

Supposedly they want Daniel Ricciardo

Bottas can't beat Massa on a regular basis. Why Ferrari were interested in him in the first place is a mystery.

Lance Stroll? He's doing his best Maldonado impression in Euro F3.

Which actually makes sense.

Especially since he's Italian. :gomer:
