This is some very sad news, it is being reported that Robin Williams died this afternoon and that it was a suicide. It seems he was suffering from severe depression recently.

Truthfully at the moment the only thing that comes to mind is that just sucks.
Not at all eloquent but it gets the point across. :shakehead:

As he said, "Cocaine is God's way of telling you you're making too much money..."

Goodbye, Robin, and thanks for all the laughs.

:( Hoping it was a false report or a bad joke.

Now I hope he really was an alien and just went home, like Elvis did.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
The arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.

This is really hard to conceive of. A world without Robin Williams. So sad.

About six weeks ago, he was back in Minnesota at a rehab facility "re-connecting" (and taking pictures at Dairy Queen: http://www.twincities.com/entertainment/ci_26070913/robin-williams-minnesota-hazelden-visit-stops-at-dq )

Lots of people are saying "get help" - maybe not realizing that he did.

Addiction and depression are a nasty combination, and he fought them valiently. In the end, they won. That sucks.

A great human. He'll be missed.

I was wondering whether they had done any episodes of "The Crazy Ones" for next season forgetting that it had been cancelled. It took a few episodes, but once the writers hit their stride it was a nice balance between a Robin Williams vehicle and a reasonably intelligent ensemble sitcom. Evidently the ratings fell steadily through the season. Maybe we just didn't deserve him any more. :(

Gilbert Gottfried wrote a eulogy for Robin Williams.

Jason Alexander said something similar:

Ah Robin, I'm so sorry the earth couldn't stay worthy of you. Hope happiness awaits you.

Marc Maron did an interview with him a few years back and he's put it up as a bit of a remembrance. Well worth a listen. http://www.wtfpod.com/ (or on itunes).

Thank you. The best tribute ever. This news is unspeakably sad on so many levels. :(

I feel lonely without him around.

Sometimes I thought he thought just as I do.

Other times he seemed a bright light of clarity to point out things I never would have seen.
