For the captain spending money on bringing in Juan Pablo Montoya to a 3rd car next year

I know this isn't something the Captain is known for, but he just must be funding that out of pocket.

It got IndyCar to show up on major news feeds, that hasn't happened since Weldon. Probably the most effective pr money spent on IndyCar in years.

At his most generous Penske might do it for cost + 10%. Sounds like JPM is now a ride buyin' furriner. :p

This is the last driver of any importance left from CART's heydays. And they got 'em all now...all the cars and starz. They win....

A 38 yr old who's about 50lbs overweight. Like Bourdais, this will have ZERO impact on the clown car series popularity. Juan's driving a crapwagon now! Bwahahahaha!~

Someone should write a screenplay about washed up old AOW racers who stage a comeback. Name it "Driven Wild Hogs".

Mike Kelly and Izod got there 350% ROI and hightailed it

I have no inside info on this, so this is just speculation, but I imagine Juan is taking a pretty hefty paycut even relative to the rumored Andretti deal just for a chance to stick it in Ganassi's eye. Certainly did not see this coming ...

Driving for hate. I like that theory.

I wonder if NASCAR made JPM a better Indycar driver? :gomer:

Does Wan's Indy win negate his CART affiliation in the eyes of 12 remaining gomers?

Anyone that gives up turning left on ovals for the exciting road courses of Indycar is A-OK in the gomers eyes.

Briscoe was not asked to bring money, and JPM did not bring any either.

The team tried to find funding for Briscoe, and did not come up with enough to do it right.

Penske had planned for a third car for next year, and had found just enough funding to do so. The ride, was going to be for AJ, but then cooled a bit there after his spotty performance. They were also talking to a few other for the ride....btw.

When JPM became available, RP pulled the trigger. Penske pay their drivers....so no money needed.

That deserves a :yuck:. The girls just 'had to go' to Olive Garden recently, so I caved and we went. :yuck:

Hillbilly! I would think that growing up anywhere in the western hemisphere south of the US disqulaifies you as being a hillbilly. Now Columbia may have their own version (think Cowboy = Gaucho), but still.

Anyone south of I-70 is considered a hillbilly. :D

Around here north of Route 30 puts you in Idaho so that line is either backwards or it's just not applicable west of the continental divide.

The western half of Route 30 in Utah is one of the most desolate roads in the USA. Fill your tank in Snowville and pray that your car doesn't break down over the 104 miles to Montello NV.

Sorry. I can't comment on anything west of the Mississippi. :gomer:

I had no idea it went that far west. Is it called the Lincoln Highway there? And, if it is, pray tell, do you also have a Grand Army of the Republic Highway (which I had assumed only exist in parts of the country whose citizens could proudly claim to have shot a CSA soldier)?

Wow, just discovered this thing called Google that could answer my questions.

Yes both the Lincoln Highway and G.A.R Highway go coast to coast. No need to have had an infantry regiment fielded by your state at Little Round Top or at Bull Run to have either in your state.

Added bonus, Carl Fisher, the guy who built IMS and Miami Beach, came up with the idea of calling 30 the Lincoln Highway.

Does this mean that Ganassi's relationship with Target has soured? They can't or won't top whatever Penske is paying JPM?

Nice of them to cover the black crosses with Target symbols...

It's an E-flite Albatros D Va 25. I can think of worse ways to spend $300-

Edit to add probably closer to $700 with the servos, radio and other bits...
