Today was Kimi's turn. At some point early in the race a visor tear-off got caught in Kimi's left front brake duct. It blocked the airflow and cooked the disk. :cry:

Was the damage done by the first stop?

They found & removed it in his stop but they claim that the disk was hopelessly fried by then. They would have had to have been looking for it to find it, you don't have time to inspect brake ducts in a 2.7 second stop.

Brake temperature sensors would tell them there was a problem. They would know immediately which duct potentially has a problem.

His brakes were smoking badly on the starting grid.

That was Button unless I missed something.



Interesting difference in team reaction between Vettel crossing the line in first and Alonso crossing the line in second...

And if they wanted to be nice, they could have just left "P2" on the board and removed the part about the giant gap to P1. :laugh:

If they knew, I wonder why they waited until the stop to remedy it.
