Imagine that...

Red Bull and Ferrari have proposed turning the upcoming Young Driver Test at Silverstone into a full blown tyre test with race drivers in order to help Pirelli find a solution to the issues it experienced at the British Grand Prix.

About time.

It was mentioned during the broadcast that the teams turned down an offer to test by P. Post-race one of the teams was asked if the teams would come together to test, and a lukewarm reply followed. As stated in a previous post, both parties are @ fault in this debacle. :irked:

Where is the clown car music when you need it?

The FIA is ready to allow Pirelli to use a 2013 Formula 1 car in its private tyre tests in a bid to overcome its recent problems, AUTOSPORT has learned.

Although the governing body took Mercedes to the International Tribunal for its running of a current car at Pirelli's post-Spanish Grand Prix test, it is understood that it is now prepared to ease testing restrictions on safety grounds.

Pirelli already has two private tests lined up - one at Paul Ricard next week and the other at Barcelona a fortnight later – which it is currently scheduled to do with its 2010 Renault test car.

Wasn't the Mercedes test using 2014 compounds anyway?

Full tyre test.

Bernie Ecclestone, F1's chief executive and commercial rights holder, and the FIA president, John Todt – hardly known for the closeness of their collaborations – have agreed to give the tyre supplier Pirelli permission to run three-day tests at Silverstone on 17-19 July in order to gain a deeper understanding of their troublesome rubber.

They should do what Moto-GP does and test the day after selected GPs.
