The F-35 is replacing nearly everything in the fighter and attack role. There's no way we can dump it and meet operational expectations in the immediate future.

Aside from that, why would you assume that the same procurement system spending 1.4 trillion on cyber warfare won't simply create a cyber-albatross?

Indy, we have an open 'net. The problem is the contractors used for defense contracting. The 'standards' for security vary greatly. Trust me, been there, done that for the past 21 years. Integration with partners is a VERY scary ordeal (especially considering PCI, SOX and ONS implications). As I mentioned to Elmo this AM, even companies like Di$ney create fiefdoms and don't work well even with in their own companies...let alone across companies. Again, see above...been there, done that.
