I'm in the process of building our new forum home so I'd welcome any feedback on what, if anything, should change. I like the stripped down OC look so for the most part that's what I'll be reproducing.

One thing I wonder about is whether it's time to update the forum tag line. I suppose most of us are still "champcar enthusiasts" but I'm not sure that's particularly inviting for the occasional new visitor.

But if not that, then what?

Come for the racing snark; stay for the beer, bacon and all around knowledge?

We could always go with smock, smock, smock, smock.

mirrors that work, and/or more cones.

seriously though, I think it's fine as it sits. maybe a color change.

most everyone is welcome

we enjoy good racing

As for forum updates, I obviously like the stripped-down approach too. I think having titles for responses within a thread is dumb, as an example, and while I suppose small avatars are okay, they're generally not used for their intended purpose...

That being said, some of the new 5.x features, including the better in-thread navigation/search controls and far better mobile device usability, are pretty nice.

I don't really miss avatars.

Me either. But sometimes I wish we had the "throw up" smilie. :D

I like WB's suggestions (all of them) and offer "we enjoyed racing the way it should be" If they (the newbies) can follow that mixed tense, they should be able to hold their own in these discussions.

Ah yes, it does come in handy sometimes

Having given this even more thought, it seems to me that this btards suggestion really fits our situation.

Either that or "bacon, brains, and bull **** " might be a fancifully descriptive tag line.

How about a category exclusively for complaining?
That seem to be all anyone does anymore. The cars stink, the driver stinks, the commentators stink. However, everybody seems to like bacon.

forums for the people who miss champcar

Just wondering, how many new registrations do you get now? Maybe ask some of the newest people why they joined?
