Fairly interesting race.

Nice to see KV racing doing well and de Silvestro run so well all race.

WTF Hildebrande was thinking. First he passes under a full course yellow and then he crashes. That wasn't just a brain fart, it was a brain explosive diarrhea.

Congrats to Hinchcliffe for his first win!

Hildebrand was arguing that race control told him to pass under yellow. He has no defense for driving on top of Power.

Speaking of explosive brain diarrhea, TG was re-elected to the board-of-directors at Hulman-George this weekend.

A political blogger is an authoritative source, now?:gomer:

That said, if bringing TG onto the BOD is the price to pay for getting Zak Brown as CEO (as the rumors are circulating), yeah, I'm fine w/ that. Sorry.

Hildebrand=wanker.

Love Hinch winning. And Simona running up front.

BTW: Not a fan of PTP, but if it must be there, having a limited # of them per race is the least bad option. Not doing it by total time helped.

It ran quite a bit over the start of the 12PM rebroadcast of Malaysia here. Nice to see a bunch of familiar names and liveries, but my god, those cars. :yuck: Couldn't bring myself to watch a complete lap.

I'm glad those guys have jobs, and rather than just ignoring the whole thing I actually feel a bit of a pang of regret that the current incarnation is unlikely to get any better. That's a first for me.

DVR'd and watched at the x8 speed for much of the broadcast.

Cars still hurt my eyes.

Leigh Diffey hurts my ears.

All the polish and showmanship (fireworks at start, confetti blowers, etc) won't bring ratings. There used to be a time when the stories wrote themselves. Nowadays, the forced feel good stories and drama are :yuck:.

It used to bother me that I didn't care. I've gotten over it.

:) Elmo. The grief process is a long one with me. I watch, mostly fast forward, but I wouldn't watch at all if TravelGuy didn't want to. I used to hate it but I guess I'm mellowing. I, too, am feeling that it's sad that this is what we've got. Nothing more. I am not yet up to complete indifference because I have so many friends that are still involved. If Zanardi shows up in any way on the track, I'd probably make an effort to go.

This year the cars struck me as fantasy cars. Like dollhouse cars. All curvy edges, colorful, and pretty that way. I can see little girls playing with them in miniature. Not how you'd want a race car to be described. Sigh.

I enjoyed it from start to finish. Really happy for Hinch to get that win. I've been a fan of his since back when he was in Atlantics. Simona too, I saw her in Atlantics at Lime Rock 2009 and could see she was something special, now shes finally got the equipment to match.

I'll watch more this year despite the fugly cars because I've been able to put it out of my head that this is what Champ Car has turned into. Its just solid racing with a lot of talented drivers and good TV coverage to me now.

Then again, maybe I just have lower standards.

Trevor, if I were you I would blame my father. That's what Tony George did, and look where it got him. Or was it the guy who was banging his mother that shot his father that he blamed? Or his real father, A.J.? I don't know, this gets so confusing...

All I know is I was very pleased with Simona's performance and I was really bothered that she ran out of P2P and lost those 2 spots on the final lap. REALLY wanted that podium for her but the season is young! Remember when we made fun of Will Power? He may be the best of ALL of 'em! Gee, Ganassi nor Penske won? Andretti. Hmmm...I won't wish anything bad on RHR, though a "non big-3" win would be nice! I may not (be able to) watch but I'll follow results. PS...will Rubens go Bazillion stock car racing now or run those big rigs?:)

On Sunday, Hinchcliffe’s efforts at St. Petersburg earned him $35,000 (U.S.) while Kyle Busch collected $334,233 for his win at Fontana. Even last-place finisher Mike Bliss got a cheque for $59,810.

Heck, the same Busch earned $74,525 one day earlier, winning in NASCAR’s second division.

IndyCar is going to have to open up the vault and start acting like a big league.

To find what in their vault? Maybe they can pay in Monopoly money.

Dear God that is terrible. I did some NASCAR related research in grad school and, without looking at the data, I am pretty sure that first place paid more than that in Winston Cup in the early 1990s.

Prize money? I thought the bulk of a driver's "pay" came from whatever a sponsor would pony up, be it Dad or a giant oil company...through a team owner? MANY years ago Mario was pulling down over 3 mil which was competitive with F-1 at the time, or so I read. Haas sure as heck wouldn't pay even Mario out of his own pocket...would he? Those numbers mentioned above ARE pathetic, however.:shakehead

A couple of years ago the IRL started giving a few million dollars to every team that runs a full season effort instead of having a purse at each race.

Because without Tony, there's a limited number of TonyBucks to hand out.

Yeah, Hinch got a check for 35K from IndyCar. You should now probably suggest the Canadian tabloid writer get a tally of the total prize money paid to Hinch, which originates from a variety of sources (sponsorship, TV, promoting entities, etc. The 35K was one percentage of the total winner purse. Research. It works wonders. I understand ignoring it bolsters your straw men, but tell the truth.

 Geez, I forgot, everything is equal in the socialistic leegue. 1st place $35K, 2nd place $35K, 20th place $35K, 33rd place $35K.

The US Grand Prix in 1973 had a winners share of $50K. In context, in 2013 the Indycars are paying $35K to win....ahh yes comrades, progress!

This is nothing we don't already know about Duhfender, but the prize money in IndyCar is beyond pathetic right now and it takes a real derptastic ******* to try to convince anyone otherwise.

In other news, that race kinda sucked for me, but I'm told I was on national TV for about 10 seconds and was seen by hundreds of people, so we'll call it a push.

Not to defend any of this drek, but CART purses where never all that great either. Something about professional racing teams don't run for purse money. Not sure what these yoyos excuse is.

Essentially, yes. Purses were never very good, other than the 500, but ICS (really, the H-G Sisters) came up w/ the Leader's Circle, which in essence replaced purses.

The BCG Consulting group's leaked plans were mostly atrocities (Playoff? IMS road course?:yuck:), but they did have enough sense to recommend the return of real purses and scrapping LC altogether.
