The shrapnel from any shunts would be pretty realistic.

Too bad that Opinionated OW will hate it.

It has a fully functional DRM system:rofl:
And the pistons move in the V8 engine.
Working pushrod suspension too.

Apparently designed to capture that rare breed of human who is simultaneously very geeky and a huge racing fan (in other words, all of us).

I really don't care what it costs. I must have it.

Check out Amazon for the Williams F1.

only $1300.00 (http://www.amazon.com/Lego-8461-Williams-Team-Racer/dp/B00007B8MT)

Come to think of it, there's 2 March birthdays in the G. household...

Yeah, I've considered investing in Lego sets. Buy the big cool ones and put them in a closet until a year or so after Lego stops making them and then sell them on Ebay for 5x the original price...

This set is only $125 on the lego site. Amazon its $180, and even at Toys R Us I saw it for $178. Man the prices are nuts!

I'm glad I didn't see that before JC's birthday on Wednesday!

I'll print that out and see if he can reverse engineer something and make up a parts list. He's getting pretty good that that sort of thing.

How is it remote controlled?

As designed it can be motorized using the Power Functions kit. I guess it isn't remote controlled. I thought it was a Mindstorms controller, it isn't.

I was hoping you'd point out what I was missing. :(

Well it turns out that you could us the IR remote if you could find a place to attach the 8884 IR receiver and you bought the 8879 controller.

It would be a bit bulky and the motor kind of sticks out on one side anyway.
