Um... So they basically figure that someone might pay them $1600 to get an original VIN number and a few panels. Presumably they'll stick those on a lesser model Plymouth and presto, Roadrunner. I can't think of any other reason someone would want a pile of junk like that.

...except Mopar prices have tanked in the last 5+ years or so, and as a 383 this would never have been a high-dollar car. I'm sure the plan was for the VIN to end up on a better car (which, needless to say, is illegal and unethical), but that's sure as heck not a $1600 VIN.

$1600? What is scrap steel going for these days?

I have friend that does towing and gets calls all the time from the NJSP to pick up abandoned cars. Most are never claimed and says for the last few years he just sells even fixable cars for scrap as he gets more money.

Quakertown huh. Want me to check it out? It is only about 30 minutes from me ( or Elmo) :gomer:

I had a 69 Roadrunner. a 383 4 speed car in MINT MINT condition is worth $30k TOPS and thats like really pushing it.

You could pull the tag and put it on a Satelite and build a "Roadrunner" out of it, between that and the body tag nobody would really know (IIRC there may also be a VIN stamped on the firewall, I forget). Is it worth it? ehh not really, for the money to do a conversion like that, you could just buy one.

Reminds me of a Home Improvement episode where 'Tim' dropped a steal beam on a classic wagon.

That thing looks like it was driven over by a burning tank and then given a Viking burial in a salt marsh. I doubt if there's a square inch of it that's usable without heavy reworking, including the VIN locations.
