Man, this one really hurts. :(
I don't care if it's the day before his 92nd birthday.

My 13-yr old jazz geek daughter's going to be devastated.

OH GASP. Yes, this one really hurts. I used to know him casually--as in he knew me well enough that he said hello one day when we passed on the street in the middle of city neither of us lived in. A kinder, more decent man was hard to find. Especially in the entertainment business. Went to a lot of his concerts in the '70's and 80's. Condolences to his family and to Russ, who has been his manager for nearly 40 years. If anyone finds on online condolence book, would you post the link? Thanks. :(

I am not a jazz fan (of the something like 600 records I have exactly one is jazz, Some Kind of Blue by Miles Davis) but even I know who he was.

RIP.
