Big Dogs and Bloat...

Lost my 10 year old muttweiler Sunday to this. I had a few warning signs but didn't put them together. thought it was his age and this Heat. Max was a handful and mostly always got his way, he is truly missed, r.i.p. big guy.

:( Don't beat yourself up for not putting the clues together. That is hard to do. Our cat died a couple months ago. The vet overmedicated her and she got super dehydrated over a few days and we didn't put the signs together until it was too late either. RIP.

Sorry for your loss. Just took the dogs in for their checkup today, and concerned about our oldest dog eating, which was confirmed with a ~2 lb. weight loss. :( Meanwhile the beagle mix from hell (who should be renamed Marley) gained ~2 lbs.

sure wouldn't have thought a troubled dog would bring so much heartache. and sorry for the loss of your cat meth, i adopted my daughters cat a few years back and having another animal around has been a big help.

don't worry about the weight change dando, 2lb gain/2lb loss? your beagle is eating the others food ;)

That's tough. I'm so sorry you lost your dog HS. From that article, you may not have been able to do anything anyway but you've alerted the rest of us about bloat. It was a very thorough article. Looking back, I'm wondering if more than one dog we lost when I was kid didn't get this. Condolences. :(

Thanks again to everyone, this is Max at 2 years old. I am very thankful he lived a full life and suffered very shortly.
