After his cat Orville died, Dutch artist Bart Jansen decided to give him a new lease of life … by having him stuffed, attaching propellers to him and flying him around as a radio controlled helicopter. He's now on show at an art festival

Umm. I'm sure it's what Orville would have wanted. :saywhat:

As much as that made me chuckle, I can still think of one word to describe it: "Disgusting." I'll throw in "Ugh" for good measure. :yuck:

The pets who have left us forever deserve some dignity in death.

After all, pets are better people than most people.

As a registered cynic, I'm left to wonder just how long and close the relationship between "Orville" and this "artist" was. I'm leaning towards "Saw him by the road and came up with the idea after some sailcat jokes."

Yeah, found his site. Here's one of his other installations (warning, squashed animals).

I'm thinking that their first interaction was when he found the cat on the side of the road...

I thought it was funny at first but a few days later it feels weird. My tabby looks like the flying one.

It'd be way cooler with a Great Dane and 210 lb. lifting capacity.

I think the rather shocked expression on Orville's face is what bothers me most.

You'd think the taxidermist could have given him a, "Yeah, I'm a friggin' flying cat. How friggin' cool is that? You know you're jealous." look.

Yea cats often have that surprised look when they are noticing something or startled. I call that the stunned cat look.

I never thought of it that way.

I suspect the surprised look would be on any squirrel or bird in nearby trees.

I'd make a fabulous tool for teaching your dog not to chase cats, although Fido may need a bit of doggy counseling afterwards.

I thought it was the new Indy Car championship trophy.
